Walking Group Leader Award (WGL)
Blue Peris is one of the larger providers of Summer Mountain Leader and Walking Group Leader ( WGL ) Training and Assessment courses within the UK; it is not something we do on an ad hoc basis.
Our centre is superbly situated in the heart of Snowdonia overlooking Snowdon itself and the village of Llanberis. This wonderful and inspiring location allows us easy access to all the areas which adhere to the remit of the WGL syllabus - where better to undertake your WGL Training or assessment course?
We have been approved by Mountain Training England (MTE) and Mountain Training Wales / Cymru (MTW) for the delivery of these courses.
Our course ethos is to offer a personal, friendly, and relaxing learning/assessment environment with an up to date and exciting course programme.
Staff
Our staff are at the heart of what we deliver and this is one of the key strengths of a course at Blue Peris. They are all very enthusiastic, passionate, highly qualified, and experienced in the delivery of the ML/WGL Award. They are also very experienced in working with groups throughout the UK, Europe and further a field.
Client Base
Our clients visit us from all over the UK and come from all walks of life. We have hosted a wide range of people, including teachers, youth workers, police officers, fire fighters, instructors, parents, volunteers, scout leaders even local dustcart operators. In addition to this, we can provide courses for any organisation on request, as we do for the MET Police, who use Blue Peris to train their officers to work with cadets.
Fees for WGL Training and Assessment (2012)
Fully residential: £199
This includes all board and accommodation, transport whilst on course, all instruction and access to a variety of specialist equipment.
Non residential for local residents: £180
You must live within a 25 mile radius of the centre and proof of this must be supplied at time of booking. This cost includes evening meals when evening lectures are given on the programme, transport whilst on the course, all instruction and access to a variety of specialist equipment.
Dates (2013)
Please note we do not run courses between mid April to the beginning October! The reason? As night navigation is a key part of the syallabus, then we like to ensure you receive proper training. i.e in the dark. In the summer months it is so late before it gets dark, candidates find it hard arriving back at the centre at 1-2.00 am in the morning and having to be ready to go again by 9.00pm the next morning. With the syllabus being very busy we feel this limits students learning.
