The Centre/Accommodation

Blue Peris is located just outside the Snowdonia National Park, 290 metres above sea level on the south westerly flank of Elidir Fawr, close to the village of Dinorwic, above Llyn Padarn and the woods of Allt Wen. There are splendid views of Snowdon and adjacent hills from the Centre grounds.

Residential courses are fully catered. The accommodation is in small dormitories and all bedding is provided. There are shower and washing facilities, drying rooms and equipment stores. There is a small climbing wall, also a student's common room with a stereo, and a games room with a pool table and table football. Group meetings and lecture rooms are used for indoor/evening sessions.

The centre has just rolled out its new IT facilities with an IT room with 6 computers and IT facilities in all the teaching rooms. We have digital cameras, one for each group, to record the experiences of the students. We find this can be a great reviewing tool, when the photos of the day are reviewed back at the centre.

The New Opportunities Funding (Now the Big Lottery Fund!) has allowed us to substantially improve other facilities at the centre.

The funding has also allowed us to update the Ropes Course, Trapeze and Climbing wall and has provided us with 'The Pavilion'. This is a bivvi shelter built to address issues of sustainability and the environment. The Pavilion gives us a new meeting area and a facility allowing students to experience sleeping under the stars in a safe and well managed environment.

These facilities are now complete and are being incorporated into the program as you read.

Previous visitors to the centre.... you will notice a huge difference....This has all been thanks to the continued commitment to the centre of Bedfordshire County Council ....... also..... not forgetting your lottery pound!

There is a television, video and DVD player in the dining room. A 'tuck shop' selling a limited variety of sweets, also postcards and souvenirs opens once a day or by negotiation.

There is a students' payphone which can take incoming calls (01286) 870 874.
