Environmental Studies Through Adventure
These courses provide an exciting introduction to a variety of different environments and topics. A thematic approach drawn from the following
can be designed to support studies at Key Stage 2:
- Rocky coastlines and sandy beaches
- Castles and cromlechs
- Map reading and orienteering
- Upland and lowland farming
- Forest adventure walks
- The uplands of Snowdonia
- Mineral mining
- Slate quarrying
- Power and electricity
- Practical problem solving and group working
- Rivers - from the mountain to the sea
- Recreational visits
Each day is project based and involves activity visits to a number of sites. Project material can be produced in consultation with visiting
school staff prior to the course.
Each course can accommodate a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 48 pupils with visiting staff on a ratio of 1:12.
The cost to the pupils varies depending on the time of year and the number of students you may wish to bring. Courses usually last for one week leaving home on Sunday at about 10:00 and returning by
about 15:00 on the following Saturday. We can usually arrange coach transport to and from any part of the
country.
Blue Peris offers a tried and tested facility managed by experienced and highly qualified outdoor staff. The Centre is fully licensed to operate
adventure activities, thus ensuring the highest level of safety for all pupils and visiting staff.
If you or any members of your staff would be interested in further discussions on this proposal or attending a free accommodation planning
weekend in White Peris, please contact the Centre.
