Core Skills / Personal Development Residential Course
We have now been running these courses for the last four years and have developed them in conjunction with our main client BETA.
Why come to North Wales for this training? Well, outdoor development programmes based on adventure activities have become well established
as a powerful way of enhancing personal and team skills. They allow us to present students with challenging situations, where they can get
feedback on their performance through discussion and review, and where we hope they will be able to identify and develop personal skills that
will enhance their ability in the work place. As you will see from the following course objectives, our aim is to do this in a shared and
supportive way.
Course Objectives
- To create an environment where group members can evaluate the nature and scope of their personal contribution and roles within an effective working team through discussion and feedback.
- To examine approaches to problem solving where people working together in support of all other team members, create a level of achievement which exceeds that of the individual.
- To distinguish between team, individual and task priorities, and to encourage a responsible approach to task achievement based on clear objectives.
- To build effective communication styles and abilities between team members based on a proper understanding of the communication process.
- To establish a contract of trust and confidentiality between team members so that process issues (i.e. conflict or disagreement), can be dealt with in a safe and positive manner.
- To identify a personal action plan for each course member that will contribute to their future personal development.
- To use the activity programme to provide written evidence in support of the NVQ Core Skills.
The programme of activities is presented within the context of gathering evidence to support NVQ Level 3 Core Skills based upon the following
matrix.

A Proforma is used by students to provide evidence relating to a variety of elements. An example can be seen by

Programme
Course members will operate in three groups for the majority of the programme although there will be some interaction between groups at times.
