Finding Blue Peris

By Road

From the South route 1 - motorway and dual carriageway

Depending on where you are travelling from there are two options. One is to use the M6 then join the M56 West just after Knutsford services (this is faster if there are no traffic jams). Once on the M56 follow this, taking the A5117 which leads onto the A55. Follow the A55 and take the A5 exit at the Bangor junction heading in the direction of Bethesda but turning right at the roundabout after 100m on to the A4244 (signposted to Llanberis).

Follow this road for 3 miles then take a left turn at a roundabout (also signposted to Llanberis). Follow the road up the hill to the Beran (Texaco) garage and take a left turn a further 100m on towards Deiniolen. Go through this village and continue to Dinorwig and the end of the main road by the edge of the slate quarries.

Blue Peris is 300m down the lane with the ‘No Through Road’ sign. The OS grid reference of the centre is: SH 588 608.

From the South route 2 – the scenic route

Leave the M6 after junction 10A taking the M54 towards Shrewsbury. The M54 ends taking you onto the A5. Once on the A5 follow it until Capel Curig going through Betws y Coed. (Approx 70 miles) On arriving at Capel Curig, turn left onto the A4086 ( to Llanberis ) and follow this for approximately 3 miles taking the right turn just after the Pen y Gwyrd Hotel (made famous by the first Everest Summit success expedition). The road leads up and over the Pen y Pass col and down through the Lllanberis Pass.

Once arriving in Llanberis (Snowdon Railway on left) do not turn into the village but carry on the main road. After the bends section turn right taking the A4244 for 1 mile. At the top of hill take the right turn, signposted Deiniolen and follow the final part of the route 1 directions.

From the South route 3

It may be appropriate for some to join the A5 at Shrewsbury if travelling up on the A49. If so, one joins the A5 just North of Bayston Hill – Shrewsbury and follows route 2 as above.

From the North or East

Take the M56 West. Once on the M56 follow this, taking the A5117 which leads onto the A55. Follow the route 1 directions thereafter.
