Single Pitch Award (SPA)
The Single Pitch Award is the award which allows you to take groups climbing on single pitch crags within the UK. In addition to this, it allows you to teach and coach a variety of aspects of climbing.
Single Pitch Training
A two day course, including one evening session. The course looks at all aspects of the SPA syllabus. It will address technical skills, judgement and knowledge of climbing and managing groups on single pitch crags in order for you to become a competent leader.
Single Pitch Assessment
This is the assessment required to pass your SPA. The course lasts for 2 days and includes an evening climbing wall session. Attending an SPA training course is a prerequisite for the assessment course. The course will assess your ability to prepare and manage a variety of climbing and abseiling scenarios. We create a relaxed environment where candidates are able to demonstrate their skill set and understanding.
Location
Based in the heart of Snowdonia we are well placed to visit tghe quietr, lesser known crags which are not often found in guide books, alongside the more well known venues.
Costs and Dates
£360.00 per course based on self catering. Unfortunately we are only available to offer courses when groups of 3 or 4 individuals get together. We can be very flexible with dates to suit candidates; please contact the centre to discuss arrangements.
Staff
The staff that work on these courses are all a minimum of MIA (Mountain Instructor Award), have a long grounding in climbing and are still very active, both as a climbers and teaching people climbing.
