Mountain Biking

With man-made trails everywhere in the UK giving access to great adventures on two wheels, mountain biking is an increasingly accessible sport. Blue Peris can provide an ideal introduction to the thrill of off-road cycling, often using the internationally known Marin Trail in Betws-Y-Coed. This trail is widely respected for its exciting descents and grinding uphill sections, providing a challenging experience for you.

Any route taken by the centre can be tailored to a group’s age and ability, as the forestry tracks in between can be used for shortcuts and provide great riding in themselves. Safe, responsible biking technique is reinforced throughout the journey. The physical challenge is a huge part of mountain biking, so, coupled with the emphasis on listening and communication skills, this activity is a superb addition to any Blue Peris course.

Blue Peris does not have its own bikes, but has good relationships with many of the North Wales mountain bike hire companies who have some excellent modern bikes on trailers. We can, therefore, take the bikes to a location that suits the group’s ability and aspirations.

This activity can be taken as a full or half day. However, a half day activity combined with abseiling works out as less expensive (bikes and trailer need to be hired) and saves those poor legs.

Equipment

Old trainers are required, alongside comfortable clothes (not jeans or canvas type trousers) waterproof jackets are provided, as are gloves and crash helmets.

NOTE - Bike hire currently costs £30.00 per day per bike ( 2023 )

Sessions are best suited to half a day per person, so this equates to an extra £15.00 per person for the activity
