PGCE Mentoring

Blue Peris has had a partnership with the University of Wales in Bangor for over 20 years. During that time we have provided valuable on site training and mentoring for their PGCE Outdoor Education students. Trainee teachers have usually spent up to 10 weeks a year at the centre on one of their teaching placements. The trainee teachers work under the close supervision of Blue Peris staff who are trained mentors.

The centre values this partnership - we think it contributes to the quality and freshness of our approach to Outdoor Education and it supports the development of effective educational practice. This programme at the University of Wales Bangor is a nationally recognised teacher training course with very limited places, thus its students are very motivated. Many of the students that have been to Blue Peris on their placement have gone on to secure positions in the outdoor industry.
